Founder communities in Europe compared: 16 clubs, associations, hubs and meetups from London to Tallinn, with price, entry rule and a recent or upcoming event.

Key takeaways

  • National startup associations are the cheapest way into a country's scene: the Swiss Startup Association starts at CHF 49 a year, Germany's Startup-Verband at 95 Euro in a startup's founding year, and France Digitale's Collectif Startup costs 500€ over 12 months (checked 28 Oct 2026).
  • Peer clubs cost more and gate by stage: Helm in the UK is for founders and CEOs beyond £3m in revenue or funding, at £1,450 a year for Club membership.
  • Hubs combine desks with community: LIFT99 in Tallinn has plans from €175 to €285 a month plus VAT, and Maria 01 in Helsinki has a Fresh membership from 50€ a month including VAT with no registered company needed.
  • Free options exist too: Startup Grind Warsaw lists its pitch sessions as free, and Indie Hackers Lille's monthly meetups are free.
  • Every row had an event, intake or live join page dated May 2026 or later, so several well-known names were left out.

The right founder community in Europe is usually a local one: a national association for policy, perks and introductions, a club or meetup for peers at your stage, and sometimes a hub where you work alongside other founders. Europe's scenes run on different languages and rules, so a group in Berlin won't do much for a founder in Lisbon. Below are 16 communities across 14 countries, each checked on its own page on 28 October 2026 or for one of our other guides that week.

A note before you read on: this guide is published by Remote Builders, our own free community for founders who build companies remotely, which you can join from anywhere in Europe. It isn't in the table, because the table is for groups based in Europe. We've left out any number we couldn't find on a community's own page.

How to choose a founder community in Europe

National associations

Most large European countries have a startup association that founders join as a company. They lobby government, run events and negotiate perks, and they're the cheapest way into a country's scene. Germany's Startup-Verband starts at 95 Euro in a startup's founding year and rises with company age. France Digitale's Collectif Startup costs 500€ over 12 months and is only for startups under 20 employees. The Swiss Startup Association runs from CHF 49 a year for Basic to CHF 999 a year for scale-ups. InnovUp in Italy and Tech Barcelona in Spain don't publish prices.

Peer clubs and meetups

  • Revenue-gated peer groups. Helm in the UK is for founders and CEOs beyond £3m in revenue or funding, with Club membership at £1,450 a year and a Forum option at £4,250.
  • Paid founder events. Amsterdam Founders Club sells event tickets from €49 plus VAT and runs a private WhatsApp community, and some events have revenue minimums.
  • Free and open meetups. IndieBeers runs monthly pub meetups in London and Lisbon, Indie Hackers has chapters in Lille and Vienna, and Startup Grind Warsaw holds pitch sessions.

Hubs with a community

If you want a desk as well as peers, look at a hub. LIFT99 in Tallinn has plans from €175 to €285 a month plus VAT, and a €28.5 day pass. Maria 01 in Helsinki has a Fresh membership from 50€ a month including VAT and a Digital membership at 100€ a month plus VAT. Norrsken House in Stockholm is for impact founders, with Lite membership from 2,600 SEK a month ex VAT. Baseline in Dublin is for early-stage tech founders and doesn't publish a price.

Communities we checked and left out

We left out groups with nothing dated May 2026 or later on the pages we could read, sites that had expired or returned errors, city accelerators without an open community layer, and event series aimed mostly at students. If you run an active founder community in Europe, tell us and we'll check it.

Europe's founders in numbers

Eurostat counted 34 million active enterprises in the EU business economy in 2024, and 3.5 million of them, or 10.4%, were created that year. Those new businesses created about 3.7 million jobs. Birth rates vary a lot by country, from 6.3% in Austria to 17.5% in Lithuania, which is part of why each country's founder scene feels so different.

How to get value in your first month

  1. Join your country's association if you've incorporated. It's usually the cheapest seat at the table, and the perks often cover the fee.
  2. Go to the same meetup three times. By the third, people know what you're building.
  3. Bring one specific ask. "I need an intro to a payments founder in Berlin" gets you somewhere.
  4. Check the language. Several groups here run mostly in their local language. Read the event pages before you book.
  5. Add an online group for between events. Our comparison of communities for remote founders covers the online options, and our guide for solo founders covers bootstrapper groups.

Common mistakes

  • Joining a group in the wrong country. Associations work for companies based where they lobby, so pick the one where you're incorporated or plan to be.
  • Paying for a desk you won't use. Hub memberships suit founders who'll be there most weeks. Otherwise, pick a day pass or a lighter plan.
  • Ignoring the stage gates. Helm, Maria 01 and France Digitale each have rules about revenue, product or headcount. Read them before you apply.
  • Waiting for the perfect group. If nothing fits your city, start one. Our guide to starting a founder meetup covers the first three events.
