Remote Builders chapters
A Remote Builders chapter is a monthly night for people building businesses from wherever they live: founders, agency owners, ecom operators, freelancers and creators.
Bali Startup & Tech in Canggu is the first chapter. Every other city opens when a member puts their hand up to host.
What a chapter is
A chapter is run by a member who lives in the city, held at a local venue, free to attend, and built around builders showing what they're working on and what it's making.
Remote Builders itself is global and mostly online: the members' chat, guides, perks and the member directory work from anywhere. A chapter adds the part that only works in a room: the same faces every month, and the person at the next table who has already solved your problem.
Every chapter runs the same format, copied from what already works in Bali, so a host never has to invent a night from scratch and a member who moves cities knows what to expect.
The chapters
Only chapters that run real events are listed, with facts we checked on the day. Updated 26 October 2026.

Every other city
No chapter yet. It opens when a member who lives there applies to host and runs a first event.
How hosting works
- Apply below. Or tick “Hosting a dinner or chapter in my city” when you join. Tell us your city and what you'd run.
- A 20-minute call with Lachlan or Josh: your city, your venue ideas and who you'd invite.
- Pick a venue and a date four to six weeks out. A coworking space, a restaurant with a private area or a bar that's quiet on weeknights all work.
- Get your kit: your city's join link, a printable door poster and table cards with its QR code, the run sheet and the listing template.
- List the night two to three weeks ahead and invite the people you know.
- Run it with the standard format.
- Send the after-night note within two days, and lock in next month's date before you leave the venue.
The standard night
Small first night, under 15 people? Run it as one long table with dinner from the start and the Money Round at the table.
What a host commits to
- One night a month, in the same week each month (for example, the second Thursday), for at least three months in a row.
- The standard format: quick intros, one or two builder spotlights, then dinner and open networking. Two hours, give or take.
- Free entry. Guests buy their own food and drinks at the venue. No tickets, no paid upsells.
- List it at least two weeks ahead with the chapter's Remote Builders join link, and put the join QR at the door and on the tables.
- A short note after each night: headcount, how many joined at the door, and one thing to change. It takes five minutes.
- A co-host by the third night, so the chapter doesn't stop when one person travels.
House rules at every chapter
- Free to attend, always.
- No pitching from the front. Spotlights share what they built and what it makes, not a sales offer. If you're hiring or selling, say it in one line during intros and talk to people afterwards.
- Signal over noise. Builders first. Questions and real numbers beat hype.
- In the members' chat: introduce yourself and add context when you share a link, no repeated promos, ask before sending anyone a sales message, no crypto pitches, and be useful and kind. Spam is removed without warning.
- Everyone's welcome who's building or wants to build. Treat people with respect. No harassment, no discrimination, no recruiting for schemes. The host can ask anyone to leave.
- People's details stay private. Nobody exports, sells or cold-messages the attendee list.
- The host is a volunteer member, not staff, and the venue is the local host of the night.
The step-by-step version, with venues, invites and a run sheet: how to start a founder meetup in your city.
Apply to host a chapter
Hosts are members who build their own business, live in the city for at least the next six months (or have a co-host who does), and have run or co-hosted an event before (or co-host the first three nights with someone who has). Hosting is volunteer and unpaid. You don't need an audience: a first night can be six people.
