The right founder community in Sydney is the one you'll go back to: a Saturday parkrun at Centennial Park, a monthly mastermind in Manly, an after-work evening in the CBD or a hub at Tech Central. Below are 14 communities, each checked on its own pages on 28 October 2026, with what each costs, how to get in and when it next meets.
A note before you read on: this guide is published by Remote Builders, our own free community for founders who build companies remotely, which you can join online from Sydney. It isn't in the table, because it doesn't meet in Sydney. We've left out any number we couldn't find on a community's own page, and where a page shows a price without naming the currency, we say so.
How to choose a founder community in Sydney
Runs and walks
- Startup Striders Sydney runs a free 5k at Centennial Park on Saturday mornings, meeting just before 7am, then coffee at Greenhouse. You join its WhatsApp group, then turn up. It lists a Parramatta group too.
- One Roof Sydney holds a walk and talk for women entrepreneurs around Centennial Park on the last Friday of each month, then coffee. Your first walk is $5 (currency not named).
Meetups and masterminds
Manly Entrepreneurs meets on the first Wednesday of each month at WOTSO Manly, with a lean mastermind where members bring a challenge, and no pitching. Her Collective Space runs monthly guided networking for women early in building a business, with a new person every 20 minutes, at A$5. UTS Startups runs a fortnightly Coffee Hour and Friday afternoon founder talks in Ultimo, free with registration, and you don't need a UTS connection.
After-work evenings and pitch nights
StartupHaus Sydney holds ticketed after-work evenings with founder panels at the AWS office on Park Street; the next is on 11 November 2026. Ascent Valley Sydney holds a monthly Friday pitch night at The Rocks where five founders pitch for five minutes each, with no judging panel and no equity taken. Launch Camp runs a co-founder matching night at UTS Startups on 18 November.
AI and hardware
AI Salon Sydney holds evening salons with demos and founder stories at AWS on Market Street. Sydney Hardware Meetup holds evenings with two-minute open mic hardware demos at The Onset in Surry Hills; its November event was full with a waitlist when we checked.

Communities we checked and left out
We left out groups whose last Sydney event was before May 2026, groups for creatives or the wider tech scene rather than founders, one-off or vendor-run events, sites that blocked us, mainly paid programmes, and a meetup run to promote a coaching business. We didn't find a First Nations, ecommerce or indie hacker group with in-person Sydney events that met that bar; if you run one, tell us and we'll check it.
Sydney's founders in numbers
Startup Genome's Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2025 ranked Sydney 25th globally and first in Oceania. On 2 June 2026 the NSW Government added four providers to its Diversity Pre-Accelerator programme, including Barayamal for First Nations founders and Catalysr for migrant and refugee founders.
How to get value in your first month
- Pick one weekly thing and one monthly thing. A Saturday run, plus a mastermind, walk or evening each month.
- Go to the same one three times. By the third, people know what you're building.
- Bring one specific ask. "I need an intro to a founder who has sold to an Australian bank" gets you somewhere.
- Use the free hubs. UTS Startups and Stone & Chalk run public events you can attend before applying.
- Add a broader group. Our Australia guide covers other cities, our Melbourne guide compares 12 groups there, and our comparison of communities for remote founders covers the online options.
Common mistakes
- Saying yes to everything. There's more on than you can attend. Pick two or three and go often.
- Only going to pitch nights. Most of the help comes from other founders, not investors.
- Only looking in the CBD. Manly and Parramatta have groups too, so pick one near where you live.
- Waiting for the perfect group. If nothing fits your niche, start one. Our guide to starting a founder meetup covers the first three events.
