Updated . By the Remote Builders team. Every figure links to its source.

Key takeaways

  • Most countries have a fintech association with a startup tier: FinTechNZ's start-up tier is NZ$200 a year excluding GST, AEFI in Spain is 380 € a year for 1 or 2 employees, and FinTech Australia starts from $550 a year for founding teams (currency not named), checked 28 Oct 2026.
  • This Week in Fintech runs an open Slack with 10,000+ members, plus 8,000+ people across WhatsApp and Telegram groups.
  • Several associations give direct regulator access: the Singapore FinTech Association runs dialogue sessions with MAS, and Innovate Finance does policy work in the UK.
  • TechQuartier in Frankfurt has free community membership for startups, with hot desks from 190 € a month.
  • KPMG's Pulse of Fintech reported US$103.1 billion of global fintech investment in the first half of 2026.

The right community for a fintech founder does two jobs: it connects you with other founders who know how hard it is to get a licence, a banking partner or a payments integration live, and it gets you in the room with the regulators and banks who decide those things. Below are 12 communities, from a global Slack to national fintech associations in 11 countries, each checked on its own pages on 28 October 2026.

A note before you read on: this guide is published by Remote Builders, our own free community for founders who build companies remotely, which you can join online from anywhere. It isn't in the table, because it isn't a fintech community. We've left out any number we couldn't find on a community's own page.

Notes on the table

  • Upcoming events. FinTechNZ holds its annual meeting on 10 November 2026, the Singapore FinTech Association's Payments Leaders Forum is on 11 November, and Cámara Argentina Fintech's Argentina Fintech Forum is on 29 October.
  • Entry rules. France FinTech and AEFI use selection or admissions committees. Cámara Argentina Fintech starts with an initial meeting and asks for at least 6 months of operation.
  • FINTAK had no upcoming events listed when we checked. It's in the table because its application page is live and it posted an article on 27 October 2026.
  • TechQuartier covers other sectors as well as fintech.

Communities we checked and left out

We left out groups with nothing dated May 2026 or later, conferences without a year-round community, and sites that blocked us. We didn't find a US or Indian fintech founder community that passed every check. If you run an active fintech founder community, tell us and we'll check it.

Fintech funding in numbers

KPMG's Pulse of Fintech reported global fintech investment of US$103.1 billion in the first half of 2026, up from US$72.2 billion in the second half of 2025. The number of deals fell from 2,500 to 2,100, with capital concentrating in larger, established companies. For an early-stage fintech founder, that makes the introductions a good community provides worth more, not less.

How to get value in your first month

  1. Join your country's association if you need a regulator or a bank. It's often the fastest way to meet the people who approve you.
  2. Use the open Slack for peers. Ask how others got their banking partner or licence. Specific questions get specific answers.
  3. Go to one event in person. Most associations here run monthly or more.
  4. Check the entry rules. Some associations limit startup tiers by age, revenue or headcount.
  5. Add a broader group. Our comparison of communities for SaaS founders covers the B2B SaaS groups, and our guide to payments when Stripe isn't available covers the payments side.

Common mistakes

  • Joining an association in the wrong country. Associations work for companies licensed or based where they lobby.
  • Paying for the corporate tier. Most have a cheaper startup tier. Ask for it.
  • Treating it as a sales channel. Banks and regulators come to learn, not to be pitched.
  • Waiting for the perfect group. If nothing fits your city, start one. Our guide to starting a founder meetup covers the first three events.
