The right community for a climate tech founder connects you with other founders on the same hard problems, and with the investors, corporates and experts who can help you deploy. Climate companies often need more capital and longer timelines than software, so the room matters. Below are 11 communities, from global Slacks to local meetups and hubs, each checked on its own pages on 28 October 2026.
A note before you read on: this guide is published by Remote Builders, our own free community for founders who build companies remotely, which you can join online from anywhere. It isn't in the table, because it isn't a climate community. We've left out any number we couldn't find on a community's own page.

Communities we checked and left out
We left out groups with nothing dated May 2026 or later, accelerators whose community is open only to their cohorts, groups that have rebranded away from founders, and sites that blocked us. We didn't find an African climate founder community that passed every check. If you run an active climate founder community, tell us and we'll check it.
Climate funding in numbers
The IEA's State of Energy Innovation 2026 says venture capital for energy technology start-ups fell for a third straight year in 2025, to USD 27 billion, while over 320 new energy start-ups raised their first funding. European start-ups took 25% of global energy venture capital in 2025, up from 15% five years earlier. With less money going round, the investor and corporate introductions a community provides count for more.
How to get value in your first month
- Join one global group and one local one. Work on Climate or 4WARD for reach, and a meetup or hub in your city for depth.
- Go to the same meetup three times. By the third, people know what you're building.
- Bring one specific ask. "I need an intro to a corporate buyer of low-carbon cement" gets you somewhere.
- Pitch when you're ready. 4WARD's Startup Tank and Hack's chapter pitches are built for that.
- Add a broader founder group. Our comparison of communities for remote founders covers the general online options.
Common mistakes
- Joining job-seeker channels when you need founders. Climate communities mix both. Find the founder channels.
- Treating climate like software. Hardware and deployment take longer. Find founders on the same timeline.
- Skipping the local scene. Pilots and customers often come from your own city.
- Waiting for the perfect group. If nothing fits your city, start one. Our guide to starting a founder meetup covers the first three events.
